Paper Factory Hotel’s owner, Gal Sela, is doing everything he can to model his hotel into the go-to location for artists, musicians, and actors all over the world.  Positioning his hotel in the perfect location of LIC Queens, in the Kaufman Astoria Arts District which is home to the world-renowned Kaufman Astoria Studios and the Museum of Moving Image,  he’s been off to a smart start since the hotel’s late 2013 opening.

Recently, Gal joined forces with his hotel’s neighbor, Queens Council on the Arts, to launch the first ArtHotel residency program.  After sifting through 69 applications of local Queens-based artist the hotel narrowed it down to two and then finally one. Erin Treacy, was the final artist selected for Paper Factory Hotel.

We saw so many talented artist and this was a very difficult decision.  Overall we are very happy with our selection and we still plan to work with many other artists. Erin’s style is perfect for what our hotel is looking for right now, so we’re super excited.

During the finalist interviewing process, the hotel asked the artists if they would be interested in coming in sooner to work with the hotel and Erin was very eager to do so.  They quickly came up with an idea to welcome her and a friend in for a live painting session in honor of Women’s History Month.  PFH will be working with their new in-house artist, Erin, throughout the spring season and they’re looking forward to it!
